CLIENT: MUSIC SALES, 1990
A revamp of the business
identity for the music publisher Omnibus Press required a logo that
could be applied to mass market trade paperbacks, up-market hardbacks
and would suit books about rock and classical music. At the same time,
the biographies and promotional graphics were now to reflect the
graphic look associated with the musicians’ album covers, often using
commissioned illustration and photography.
For the cover and poster
image for Omnibus’s 1990 catalogue (left), the photo
artist Simon Farnhell was commissioned to supply an image that summed
up four decades of rock and roll, via Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny
Rotten and Madonna.
