CLIENT: THE CD POOL, 1997-1999
Members of The CD Pool
were DJs who received monthly CD samplers of forthcoming underground,
club and street dance mixes. The service was funded by the hi-fi
company Pioneer, who supplied clubs with the DJM 500, a professional
mixing device.
With Club Beats - house
and garage - and Street Beats - soul, swing, hip hop and r&b - already
established, I was commissioned to devise the logo and graphic style
for 'Underground Beats'. As the name suggests, this genre of dance
music was much harder edged and alternative, a feel reflected in the
confrontational and aggressive graphics.
